Singapore City Hall

The Singapore City Hall was completed in 1929 and was the location of three important historical events.

In 1945, Britain's Lord Mountbatten accepted the surrender by the Japanese at this location.

In 1959, Lee Kuan Yew declared Singapore to be "self governing".

In 1963, Lee Kuan Yew declared the territory to be an independent country.
